When I was younger the opportunity to travel wasn’t really open to me. Work and finances always seem to be a limiting factor. Neither have got significantly better, I’ve not become a lottery winner, what I have gained is the ability to balance life to my advantage.

Growing older, I watched others travel the globe visiting exciting places and seeing the the sights I had only read about.

Finally getting to a place in life where travel is a viable option, I have a lot to catch up on.

Where will I go? What will I see?

There are so many places to visit, and selecting the next trip will always be an interesting balancing act. Finding suitable flights, sensible accommodation and somewhere different to explore.

My workflow for planning a trip is simple.

  • Find reasonable priced flights to anywhere, at a sensible times.
  • Search for suitable accommodation, whether it be a hotel or an AirBNB
  • Scourer the surrounding area for places of intrest
  • Book a vehicle suitable for the enviorment
  • Head off and explore

There are so many places out there to visit, and only so much time and money to do it all with.

We choose to book everything separate, and thus far it’s been a great success allowing for more trips away due to the money saved by not heading down to the local travel agent and paying for their services.

I know that some people are a little nervous at the prospect of booking everything separately. Yes, it’s a little more complicated than simply handing your money across to the travel agent. The big advantage is you get exactly what you want, where you want and when you want it.

Get out there and explore.
